2012 Blog in Review

Turns out that my most popular blog post for all of 2012 came on the day when James Ransom commented on my attempt to copy one of his photos (See I can do that. I think). I love his work. He does all (or nearly as I can tell) the photography for Food52. My goal for 2012 was to improve my photography. I can’t say that I made it, but I certainly made efforts. As part of that goal, I attended a class by Ashley Rodrigez of Not Without Salt. This is one of my photos from that class. Both events made me elated and made me happy to be blogging. Sadly, by November, I had dropped my camera and broken my lens. I guess I wasn’t on Santa’s good list this year, so I will have to hunt for one in January.

Unfortunately, over the 12 months that followed, I lost my momentum, certainly, and some of my passion, possibly, for doing this. I have decided a lot of that has to do with returning to work. Being a working mom with 3 kids is hard – period. I have never been good at finding time for myself, so my blogging was sure to take a hit. I spent too much time feeling sorry for myself, rather than doing something good for myself – like exercising or blogging.

So, for 2013, I hope to get back into the swing of blogging regularly. I hope to run a few times a week – period! I hope to do yoga with my little lady, since she is a big fan. I hope to come up with something mind blowing, because even though I think that sometimes I just want to sit in my sweats and eat boxed mac ‘n’ cheese, I also love when the food is so incredible that I lose sleep thinking about it.

I have been doing a lot of reading lately and I have a lot of things running through my little head. I hope that I can find something interesting things to say. I hope I can make some food that makes me, and you, lose sleep. I hope that I can make my little blog something that you will look forward to visiting.

Here’s to 2013!

  1. uht oh. you mentioned mac and cheese. I recently told chris I wanted to learn how to make great mac and cheese (obviously I have veered from the box kind…) got any leads?

    • I would be happy to teach you. I make a mean version from scratch, but it literally changes each time. Really depends on what I have on hand and what I feel like doing with it. So when is the shower? I could teach you then??
